When shopping for those on your Christmas list

As holidays and celebration days are quickly passing, presents are not something that I really expect when this time comes around. The most important thing is: time well spent with loved ones and surrounding myself with good energy. Hopefully most of us agree with the idea that material things are not that big of a priority… But sometimes gifts are inevitable and a must when it comes to this holiday season. I do have to admit that there is an unexplainable joy of giving a gift to a person that means so much to you. But note that, the more money you spend on someone should not equate to how much you care for them. Not at all.

Why you should choose your boss, and not your job

boss screaming at small startled worker

Throughout life people are on a never-ending search for the perfect job. The perfect career that could add the finishing touch to the life that they are proud of living, or simply just a job that they’re proud of landing. But unless you are self-employed or find yourself as the CEO, you are expected to constantly report back to the high power, which in this case is your boss.

A boss is such an crucial aspect in your daily life. In my experience I have come to realize that when it comes to applying to a new job, it is a good boss that you should be striving to gain and not just the ‘ideal job’. With a good boss, you will be encouraged to work to the best of your capabilities regardless of the job title. With an ideal job title plus a bad boss, you will begin to dread work everyday due to the constant nagging and micromanagement. So I encourage you to go with the good boss, you will create a better version of yourself when you find yourself in a good and uplifting work environment. Once you find yourself happy at work, you continue to dream and strive to reach your end goals. You feel the constant need to be better, not stunted and held back.

The bright side of a long distance relationship

Distance sucks. Plain and simple, it’s always more comforting to be close in proximity to the things and people you love most. But reality hits. Sometimes life just gets in the way. Along with many others, I am one of the chosen ones to feel the unpleasant wrath that being away from your significant other brings. So believe when I tell you I know how much it sucks to be in a long distance relationship. Not only does it suck, but it’s hard. And it’s not for everybody. Everyone is a different type of lover, so it’s expected that certain people have different limitations to what they demand in a relationship.

But I am here to shine a light on the darkness that comes with the idea of a long distance relationship. As a self-discovering, twenty something-year old female in this millennial age, I am on a constant journey to clearly figure out my dreams, my passions and what makes me happy to be alive. I would be lying if I said that my past relationships don’t consume me when I have them physically close to me. The extent of the way that I love can sometimes be out of my control. So with a considerable about of time in a LDR, I have come to the realization that the forced distance created a healthier, more independent and ambitious version of myself. Here’s why:

13 ugly truths when you’re in a controlling relationship

Relationships are never easy. It’s already hard enough to take care and nurture a good, healthy long-term relationship, but how about when you’re one in that ruins and wrecks you down mentally and physically. Yes, when spelt out it looks bad. But what’s even worse is when you can’t even identify yourself as being in a toxic relationship. You’re blinded and begin to believe that what you are experiencing is actual “love”. That maybe everyone who is in a “happy” relationship is actually going through what you are too, and you just stay hush and start to make excuses for everything your significant other is doing. You make the minimal good outweigh the vast amount of bad. I can say from experience that being in a controlling relationship is one of the most draining things I can think of. But what I can tell you, is that if you do find yourself in a toxic relationship, you must realize that there is someone better out there for you. Please don’t make yourself believe that this is the best you can do, or if somehow you deserve the bad things that are happening to you. It’s important to surround yourself with good quality friends that can help you out of an unhealthy relationship when you can’t see clearly or fend for yourself.

Well from my fair share of years with the wrong guy, here are some of the strenuous things that I endured with time and time again…

My playlist

Warning: There is a very high chance of rain from the few tears you may shed while listening to this playlist…

It is essential to feel and have real emotions. I think that might just be why my absolute favorite kind of music is all kinds of sad, slow and emotional. That real deep kind that makes you sometimes wanna curl up into a tiny ball and cry tears of sadness or tears of joy. It can honestly go either way. My collection ranges from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and a small portion of today’s music. I love a good old oldie, I can thank my pops for that, and for the later generation of music I can thank my older sister for. Music is a wonderful thing, one of the things in life that I really cherish. I appreciate you, thanks for making me FEEL real things and constantly reminding me of what actually matters.

In the midst of midterm season and a long distance relationship, it was not my intention or plan to head towards Coachella this 2016. But spontaneity got the best of me and we decided to find tickets and bust a mission within 48 hours of leaving. I originally had a flight to fly up north that Thursday night… but roles switched, and my boyfriend decided to travel down south so we could run to the land of Chella together.

Have you ever wondered…

Fun fact about me: I ask a lot of questions. And when I say a lot, I don’t mean a regular amount of many questions. My curiosity is one of the biggest parts of my life. I always find myself asking things that catch people by surprise. I want to know it ALL. But hey, knowledge is power and anything I learn and can understand better, ultimately makes me a better person in my book. So here are some things that I got curious about and decided to research. Just some food for thought, enjoy!

Why a wife-beater tank is named after something so raw and vulgar?

  • In the early 1900’s films, a lot of domestic violence took place and generally when there were scenes with the husband beating the wife, he would always be in a janky, dirty white tank. So leave it up to America to find the most simplistic name for a tank that both genders wear throughout the past generations till now.

What the residue on your fingers are called after eating a bag of cheesy chips?

  • “Cheetle”

Why casinos never have any clocks and are more than happy to serve free alcohol?

  • They want you to lose track of time. It’s getting lost in a trap where you continously spiral down to your losses. You are not able to give yourself a time limit when time does not exist in the casino. They feed you alcohol to de-stress regardless of the amount you lost, it will give you the courage to bet big or put “All in”. Alcohol will cause you to be impulsive, upset and determined to keep playing until you win your money back… which probably won’t happen.
